How to Install ILIAS on Windows 11

ILIAS is an open-source learning management system that allows users to create and manage online courses. Follow the steps below to install ILIAS on Windows 11.

Step 1: Download XAMPP

Step 3: Install ILIAS

  1. Launch XAMPP by clicking on the XAMPP Control Panel shortcut on your desktop.
  2. Click the "Start" button next to Apache and MySQL to start the servers.
  3. Open your web browser and go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin.
  4. Click on the "Databases" tab and create a new database called "ilias".
  5. Click on the "Privileges" tab and create a new user.
  6. Set the username and password for the new user, and select "Local" for the host.
  7. Grant the new user all privileges to the "ilias" database.
  8. Move the downloaded ILIAS file to the XAMPP "htdocs" folder, which is located at "C:\xampp\htdocs".
  9. Extract the downloaded ILIAS file by right-clicking on it and selecting "Extract All".
  10. Rename the extracted directory to "ilias".
  11. Open your web browser and go to http://localhost/ilias/ilias.php.
  12. Select your preferred language and click "Next".
  13. Accept the license agreement and click "Next".
  14. Enter the following database settings:
  1. Click "Next" to complete the installation.
