Tutorial: How to Install Jellyfin on Windows 11

Jellyfin is a free and open-source media server software that allows you to stream your media collection on a variety of devices. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to install Jellyfin on a Windows 11 PC.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure that your PC meets the following requirements:

Step 1: Download Jellyfin

  1. Open your web browser and visit https://jellyfin.org/.
  2. Click on the Download button located on the top menu bar.
  3. Scroll down and select the Windows 10 installer, which is compatible with Windows 11.

Step 2: Install Jellyfin

  1. Double-click the downloaded file to open the installation wizard.
  2. Click Next to proceed with the installation.
  3. Read and accept the license agreement, then click Next.
  4. Choose the installation location and click Next.
  5. Select the components you want to install and click Next.
  6. Choose the start menu folder and click Next.
  7. Click Install to begin the installation.
  8. Wait until the installation completes, and click Finish.

Step 3: Configure Jellyfin

  1. Open your web browser and go to http://localhost:8096.
  2. Follow the setup wizard to set up Jellyfin.
  3. Choose your preferred language and click Next.
  4. Choose your media directory and click Next.
  5. Choose your preferred metadata language and click Next.
  6. Choose whether you want to enable automatic library updates, and click Next.
  7. Create an administrative account including your username and password, and click Next.
  8. Choose whether you want to share your usage statistics anonymously, and click Next.
  9. Review your settings and click Finish.

Step 4: Enjoy Jellyfin

  1. Login to Jellyfin using your newly created administrative account.
  2. Add your media to Jellyfin to start streaming to your other devices.
