How to Install Kimai on Windows 11

Kimai is a free and open-source time tracking application for businesses and freelancers. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the installation process of Kimai on Windows 11.

Prerequisites

To install Kimai on Windows 11, you need the following prerequisites:

Step 1: Download Kimai

  1. Go to the Kimai website and download the latest version of Kimai.

  2. Extract the downloaded file to a directory of your choice.

Step 2: Move Kimai to XAMPP

  1. Navigate to your XAMPP installation directory. By default, this is C:\xampp.

  2. Create a new directory within the htdocs directory called kimai.

  3. Move the extracted Kimai directory to the newly created kimai directory.

Step 3: Configure Kimai

  1. In your web browser, navigate to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/.

  2. Create a new database called kimai.

  3. Click on the newly created kimai database and navigate to the Import tab.

  4. Select the kimai.sql file from the Kimai directory you copied to the htdocs directory.

  5. Click the Go button to import the SQL file.

Step 4: Launch Kimai

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/kimai.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

  3. Once the setup process is complete, you can log in to Kimai using the credentials you created during the setup process.
