How to install Microgit on Windows 11

Microgit is a version control system that allows users to manage their source code and collaborate with others. In this tutorial, we will be installing Microgit on Windows 11 using GitHub.

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Open GitHub in your preferred web browser and sign in to your account.
  2. Go to the Microgit repository at https://github.com/microgit-com/microgit.
  3. Click on the green "Code" button and select "Download ZIP". Allow the download to complete.
  4. Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP file to a suitable location on your computer.
  5. Press the "Windows key + X" on your keyboard to open the power user menu and choose "Windows PowerShell (Admin)".
  6. In the PowerShell window, navigate to the directory where the extracted Microgit files were saved. For example, if the files were extracted to the Downloads folder, you can navigate to this location by typing cd C:\Users\{YourUsername}\Downloads\microgit-com-microgit-{version} and pressing enter.
  7. Once you have navigated to the Microgit directory, type microgit.exe --version and press enter to verify that the program is working correctly. This should display the current version of Microgit installed on your system.
  8. If Microgit is working correctly, you can now start using it to manage your source code.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed Microgit on your Windows 11 operating system.
