Openfire is an instant messaging (IM) and group chat server that is easy to set up and use. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Openfire on your Windows 11 machine.
Download Openfire from the official website: https://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/openfire/
Extract the zip file to a folder of your choice.
Run openfire-service.exe as an administrator.
Click "Next" on the Welcome screen.
On the "Choose Install Location" screen, select the path where you want Openfire to be installed. By default, it will be installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Openfire.
Select the destination folder and click "Install". It may take a few moments to complete the installation.
Once the installation is complete, check the "Launch Openfire" box and click "Finish".
The Openfire setup wizard will launch. Accept the license terms and click "Continue".
Choose the default language and click "Continue".
On the "Database Settings" screen, choose the database you want to use. By default, Openfire uses the embedded database. You can also choose to use an external database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. For this tutorial, we will choose the embedded database. Click "Continue".
On the "Profile Settings" screen, enter the name of your organization and the domain of your XMPP server. Click "Continue".
On the "Administrator Account" screen, enter the username and password for the administrator account. Make sure to remember these credentials as they will be used to log in to Openfire. Click "Continue".
On the "Setup Complete" screen, click "Launch Openfire Administration Console".
The Openfire Administration Console will open in your default web browser. Log in using the administrator credentials you set up earlier.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Openfire on your Windows 11 machine. You can now start using Openfire to set up chat rooms and manage users.
