How to Install RELATE on Windows 11

RELATE is a software package for finding and analyzing genealogies from genetic data. This tutorial will guide you on how to install RELATE on a Windows 11 computer.

Prerequisites

• Python 3.6 or later installed
• Git installed
• C++ compiler installed (for Windows, Visual Studio Build Tools or Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 can be used)

Steps

pip install numpy

pip install cython

git clone https://github.com/RELATE-project/relate.git

5. Navigate inside the relate directory using the command:

cd relate

6. Install the required packages with the command:

pip install .

7. Build the C++ extension using the command:

python setup.py build_ext --inplace

8. Test the installation by running the command:

python -c "import relate;print(relate.__version__)"
