SourceBans++ is a powerful and versatile admin management system for Source engine games. It allows server owners and admins to manage bans, kicks, and other administrative tasks with ease. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing SourceBans++ on a Windows 11 machine.
Prerequisites
Before we begin with the installation process, you will need to ensure that the following prerequisites are met:
- A machine running Windows 11
- XAMPP server installed (version 7.2 or higher)
- Source engine game server installed (such as CS:GO or TF2)
- Administrative privileges on the machine
Step 1: Downloading SourceBans++
The first step is to download SourceBans++ from their official website at https://sbpp.dev/. Click on the "Download" button on the homepage and select the latest version.
Step 2: Extracting SourceBans++
Once the download is complete, extract the SourceBans++ zip file to a folder of your choice.
Step 3: Configuring XAMPP
Before we start setting up SourceBans++, we need to configure XAMPP.
- Open XAMPP Control Panel.
- Start Apache and MySQL modules by clicking the "Start" button next to each of them.
- Navigate to your web browser and go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/.
- Click on the "New" button to create a new database named "sourcebanspp".
- Select the "sourcebanspp" database from the left sidebar.
- Import the "database.sql" file located in the "sql" folder of the extracted SourceBans++ folder by clicking on the "Import" tab, selecting the file and clicking "Go".
Step 4: Configuring SourceBans++
- Navigate to the extracted SourceBans++ folder and open the "config" folder.
- Rename the "sbpp.cfg.example" file to "sbpp.cfg".
- Open "sbpp.cfg" file using a text editor.
- Update the following configuration settings according to your setup:
- "hostname": The IP or hostname of your MySQL server (usually "localhost").
- "username": The username of the MySQL user with access to the "sourcebanspp" database.
- "password": The password of the MySQL user with access to the "sourcebanspp" database.
- "database": The name of the "sourcebanspp" database.
- "server_id": The ID of the Source engine game server you want to associate with SourceBans++.
- Save the "sbpp.cfg" file and close the text editor.
Step 5: Uploading Files to Server
- Copy the contents of the "web" folder from the extracted SourceBans++ folder to your web server's root directory (usually located at C:\xampp\htdocs).
- Copy the "addons/sourcemod/plugins/sbpp.smx" file from the extracted SourceBans++ folder to your Source engine game server's "addons/sourcemod/plugins" directory.
- Restart your Source engine game server.
Step 6: Testing SourceBans++
- Navigate to http://localhost/ in your web browser.
- Click on the "Admin" link on the top right corner of the webpage.
- Login using the default admin account:

- Once you're logged in, you should see the SourceBans++ Admin Panel.
