How to Install TWiki on Windows 11

TWiki is an open-source enterprise wiki application that allows users to create and manage wiki websites. In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to install TWiki on Windows 11.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the installation, you need to ensure that the following prerequisites are met:

  1. A web server like Apache, Nginx, or Microsoft IIS installed on your Windows 11 machine.

  3. The CGI module installed and activated in your Perl installation.

Steps to Install TWiki

  1. Download the latest version of TWiki from https://twiki.org/Download.
  2. Extract the downloaded file and copy the entire TWiki folder to the root directory of your web server's document root.
  3. Open the command prompt and navigate to the TWiki folder by using the cd command.
  4. Run the configure script by typing perl configure.pl on the command prompt.
  5. The script will ask you for the location of your Perl installation. Please provide the correct path and press enter.
  6. You will be prompted to select the runtime environment. Select the "CGI" option and press enter.
  7. Next, you will be asked for the URL path to your TWiki installation. Enter the URL path and press enter. For example, if your TWiki installation is located at C:/Apache24/htdocs/twiki, the URL path would be /twiki.
  8. You will be asked for the directory path to your TWiki installation. Enter the directory path and press enter. For example, if your TWiki installation is located at C:/Apache24/htdocs/twiki, enter /usr/local/twiki.
  9. The script will provide you with a list of optional modules that you can install. You can install them if you want, and the script will guide you through the installation process.
  10. Once the installation is complete, open your preferred web browser, and navigate to http://localhost/path/to/twiki/bin/view (replace path/to/twiki with the URL path you specified in step 7).
  11. You will be asked to create an admin user account during the initial setup.
  12. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
