How to Install Thruk on Windows 11

Thruk is an open-source monitoring software that provides a single console to monitor multiple systems. Installing Thruk on Windows 11 can be done quickly with the following steps:

  1. First, download the latest version of Thruk from the official website http://www.thruk.org/.

  2. Extract the downloaded file to a directory of your choosing. We recommend creating a new directory specifically for Thruk.

  3. Download and install Strawberry Perl from the following link https://strawberryperl.com/.

  4. Once installed, open the Windows Command Prompt by pressing the Windows key and typing "cmd". Right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator".

  5. In the Command Prompt, navigate to the directory where you extracted the Thruk files using the cd command. For example, cd C:\thruk

  6. Run the following command to install the necessary Thruk dependencies:

    cpanm --notest -L dependencies App::cpanminus

This might take a few minutes to complete.

  7. Once the dependencies are installed, run the following command to generate the Thruk configuration files:

    perl bin/thruk_gen_config

This will create a file named thruk_local.conf in the conf directory.

  8. Next, run the following command to start the Thruk webserver:

    perl bin/thruk_webserver --http-port 8080

This will start the server on localhost and port 8080.

  9. If you would like to access Thruk remotely, you will need to configure your firewall to allow access to port 8080.

  10. Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost:8080/thruk to access the Thruk web interface.

Note: The default login credentials are thrukadmin / thrukadmin.

Congratulations, you have successfully installed Thruk on Windows 11! You can now use Thruk to monitor multiple systems from a single console.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
