Trilium Notes is an open-source note-taking application that allows users to organize their notes, thoughts, and ideas in a hierarchical structure. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps to install Trilium Notes on Windows 11.
Open your preferred web browser and navigate to https://github.com/zadam/trilium.
Click on the green "Code" button and then click on "Download ZIP".
Once the ZIP file is downloaded, extract the files to your desired location on your computer.
Navigate to the extracted folder and open the "bin" folder.
Within the "bin" folder, double-click on the "trilium" application file.
If you receive a warning prompt from Windows Defender, click "More info" and then "Run anyway" to continue with the installation.
Trilium Notes will open and display a welcome screen. Click "Continue" to proceed.
On the next screen, select your preferred language and click "Continue".
Choose your note directory location where your Trilium Notes data will be stored. Then click "Continue".
Configure your server settings, including port, SSL, and username and password, if necessary. Otherwise, you may select “None” and click "Continue".
Review and confirm your selected settings, then click "Finish".
Trilium Notes will then start up, and you can begin to use the application.
