Before proceeding with the installation, you need to have the following software installed on your computer:
Please make sure that both Node.js and Git are added to your system PATH environment variable.
The first step is to clone the Wastebin repository to your local machine using the following command:
git clone https://github.com/matze/wastebin.git
This command will create a new directory called wastebin
in your current working directory.
Next, navigate to the wastebin
directory using the command prompt and install the project dependencies using the following command:
npm install
This will install all the required packages listed in the package.json
file.
By default, Wastebin uses SQLite as the database. To set up the database, run the following command:
npm run db:init
This command will create a new wastebin.db
file in the data
directory.
Finally, start the Wastebin server using the following command:
npm start
This will start the server on port 3000. You can access the wastebin by navigating to http://localhost:3000
in your web browser.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed Wastebin on Windows 11. You can now start using Wastebin as a pastebin alternative on your local machine.
If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!
Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
