Zabbix is an open-source monitoring tool that helps IT teams to track and analyze network activity, system performance, and more. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Zabbix on Windows 11.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure your system meets the following requirements:
- Windows 11
- Minimum of 4 GB RAM
- Internet connectivity
Step 1: Download Zabbix
- Navigate to the Zabbix download page
- Select the version of Zabbix you want to download. We recommend downloading the latest version
- Choose "Windows" as the operating system and click on the download link for the installer
Step 2: Install Zabbix Server
- Double-click on the downloaded installer file and click "Next".
- Read the License Agreement and click "I Agree" to proceed.
- Choose the components you want to install. For our purpose, select "Zabbix Server" and "Zabbix Web Interface"
- Choose the directory where you want to install Zabbix. The default installation directory is "C:\Program Files\Zabbix".
- Choose the database type you want to use. We recommend using MySQL.
- Enter the details for the database server. If you're setting up a local database server, keep the default values. Otherwise, enter the IP address or hostname of the remote server.
- Enter a password for the Zabbix administrator. This password is used to log in to the Zabbix web interface.
- Review the installation settings and click "Install" to start the installation process.
Step 3: Install Zabbix Agent
The Zabbix agent is an application that runs on the monitored host to collect data and send it to the Zabbix server. Install this on the systems you want to monitor.
- Go to the Zabbix agent download page
- Download the agent for Windows. Make sure to choose the right bit version.
- Open the downloaded file and click on "Next".
- Review the License Agreement and click "I Agree" to proceed.
- Choose the directory where you want to install the agent. The default directory is "C:\Program Files\Zabbix Agent".
- Enter the DNS hostname or IP address of the Zabbix server and click "Next".
- Select the "User Parameters" checkbox and click "Next".
- Configure the agent to run as a Windows Service by checking the "Use Zabbix agent service" checkbox. Click "Next" to continue.
- Review the configuration of the agent and click "Install".
Step 4: Access Zabbix Web Interface
- Open a web browser and type in the URL http://localhost/zabbix or http:///zabbix.
- Log in to the Zabbix web interface using the administrator account you set up in step 2.
