Zoneminder is an open-source surveillance camera software that allows you to monitor and record multiple cameras. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the installation process of Zoneminder on Windows 11.

Zoneminder is not natively supported on Windows 11. So, we need to install Ubuntu 20.04 WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) on our Windows 11 computer.
Follow these steps to install Ubuntu 20.04:
Once you have Ubuntu 20.04 installed on your Windows 11 computer, you can start the installation process for Zoneminder. Here are the steps to follow:
Open the Ubuntu terminal by searching for Terminal in the search bar.
Run the following command to update the Ubuntu 20.04 package list:
sudo apt-get update
Then, run the following command to install Zoneminder:
sudo apt-get install zoneminder
During the installation process, it will prompt you to set up a password for the MySQL database. Enter a secure password and confirm it.
After the installation is complete, run the following command to start the Zoneminder service:
sudo service zoneminder start
Now, open a web browser and type in the following URL to access the Zoneminder web interface: http://localhost/zm/
.
You will see the Zoneminder login page, enter the default username and password (username: admin, password: admin).
Once you are logged in, you can start adding cameras to monitor.
