OpenSIPS is a popular open-source SIP server that is often used for VoIP services. In this tutorial, we will explain how to install OpenSIPS on Windows 11.
Before we start installing OpenSIPS, make sure that you have the following prerequisites installed on your Windows 11 PC:
First, go to the OpenSIPS website and download the latest version of OpenSIPS for Windows. As of the time of writing this tutorial, the latest version is OpenSIPS 3.2.0. Once the download is complete, unzip the contents to a directory of your choice.
Next, we will install OpenSIPS. To do this, open a command prompt with administrator privileges and navigate to the directory where you unzipped the OpenSIPS files. Run the following command:
> opensips-3.2.0\win32\install.bat
This will launch the OpenSIPS installation wizard. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation. Be sure to specify the installation directory, SIP domain, and other settings as needed.
Once the installation is complete, OpenSIPS will be running as a Windows service. You can check this by opening the Windows Services console and looking for the "OpenSIPS" service.
Now that OpenSIPS is installed, we need to configure it to suit our needs. To do this, you will need to modify the opensips.cfg file, which is located in the installation directory that you specified during the installation process.
Open the opensips.cfg file in a text editor and modify the settings as needed. The configuration file is well-documented, so consult the documentation or seek expert help to understand the various options available to you.
To start OpenSIPS, simply start the "OpenSIPS" service from the Windows Services console, or run the following command from a command prompt:
> net start OpenSIPS
To stop OpenSIPS, run the following command from a command prompt:
> net stop OpenSIPS
