GNU Emacs is a powerful and extensible text editor, available for various operating systems. Here are the steps to install it on macOS:
Download Emacs for macOS from the official website: http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/. Click on the "Download Emacs" button to get the latest version.
Open the downloaded file. You should see a disk image called "Emacs-x.x.x-x-universal.dmg" (where x.x.x is the version number). Double-click on it to open it.
In the opened window, drag the Emacs icon to the Applications folder. This will install Emacs on your system.
