Phproject is a free and open-source project management tool that allows users to manage tasks, projects, and teams with ease. In this tutorial, we will show you how to install Phproject on macOS.
Before we begin with the installation process, you need to ensure that you have the following prerequisites:
To download the latest version of Phproject, visit the official website at https://www.phproject.org/ and click on the "Download" button. This will download the latest version of Phproject in ZIP format to your local machine.
When the download is complete, locate the ZIP file in your downloads folder and extract it to your web server document root directory.
For example, if your web server document root is located at /var/www/html, you can extract the ZIP file by running the following command in your terminal:
unzip phproject-latest.zip -d /var/www/html
This will extract the Phproject files to the /var/www/html/phproject directory.
Next, we need to install the dependencies of Phproject using Composer. To do this, navigate to the Phproject directory using your terminal and run the following command:
cd /var/www/html/phproject
composer install
This will install all the required dependencies of Phproject.
We need to create a new database for Phproject and grant a new user access to it. To do this, open your MySQL client and run the following commands:
CREATE DATABASE phproject;
CREATE USER 'phprojectuser'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'your_password_here';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON phproject.* TO 'phprojectuser'@'localhost';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
Make sure to replace your_password_here with a strong password of your choice.
Open the config/config.yaml file in a text editor and update the following values:

Update the values to match your MySQL configuration.
We need to set the correct file permissions for the Phproject directories. Navigate to the Phproject directory in your terminal and run the following commands:
chmod -R 777 logs cache public/uploads config web/assets
chmod 777 composer.lock
This will set the required file permissions for Phproject.
To install Phproject, navigate to the installation page in your web browser. For example, if your web server IP address is 192.168.1.100, you can navigate to http://192.168.1.100/phproject/install/index.php.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
Once the installation process is complete, you can access the Phproject dashboard by navigating to http://your_web_server_ip/phproject/ in your web browser.
