How to Install Pritunl on macOS

Pritunl is a free and open-source VPN server software that helps you to create and manage your own VPN server. In this tutorial, we will learn how to install Pritunl on macOS.

Prerequisites

Installation Steps

  1. Open your terminal and update Homebrew packages by running the following command:
brew update
  1. Install the MongoDB database using Homebrew by running the following command:
brew install mongodb
  1. Create a directory to store MongoDB database files by running the following command:
sudo mkdir -p /data/db
  1. Change the permissions of the MongoDB database directory to your user by running the following command:
sudo chown -R `id -un` /data/db
  1. Start the MongoDB daemon by running the following command:
brew services start mongodb
  1. Install Pritunl by running the following command:
brew install pritunl
  1. Start the Pritunl service by running the following command:
sudo brew services start pritunl
  1. Access the Pritunl web interface by opening your web browser and navigating to http://localhost:9700. You should see the Pritunl login page.
  2. Create your admin user account and follow the setup wizard prompts to configure Pritunl.
