How to Install Slimta on macOS

Slimta is a Python-based MTA designed for simplicity and extensibility. Installing it on macOS is a simple process that involves a few quick steps. Follow the instructions below to install Slimta.

Prerequisites

Before installing the Slimta package, you need to ensure that your system has Python3 and pip3 installed. Follow this command to check whether you have Python3 and pip3 installed:

python3 --version && pip3 --version

If you have both Python3 and pip3 installed, you can proceed to the next step. Otherwise, install them first using either Homebrew or the official Python website.

Installation

Step 1: Open the Terminal app on your macOS machine.

Step 2: Install Slimta using pip3 by running the following command:

pip3 install slimta

This command will install the latest version of Slimta and its dependencies.

Step 3: Verify that Slimta was installed correctly by running the following command:

slimta -h

This command will display the help menu for Slimta.

That's it! You have now successfully installed Slimta on your macOS machine.

Note: In some cases, you may encounter errors during the installation process caused by missing dependencies. If this happens, simply install the required dependencies using pip and try running the installation command again.

If you want to self-host in an easy, hands free way, need an external IP address, or simply want your data in your own hands, give IPv6.rs a try!

Alternatively, for the best virtual desktop, try Shells!
