Installing TYPO3 on macOS

Follow the steps below to install TYPO3 on macOS:

  1. Download and Install XAMPP

    TYPO3 is a PHP based CMS system, so you will need a PHP environment to run TYPO3 on your Mac. XAMPP is recommended for this purpose as it includes PHP and Apache web server. You can download XAMPP from https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html.

  2. Start Apache and Mysql

    After installing XAMPP, start Apache and MySQL by clicking on the 'Start' button next to them.

  3. Download TYPO3

    Download the latest version of TYPO3 from https://typo3.org/download/. You can download the "Introduction Package" which includes a sample website or "Source Package" if you want to start a new installation from scratch.

  4. Install TYPO3

    After downloading TYPO3, extract the package and copy the contents of the 'typo3_src' folder to your XAMPP htdocs folder. Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/typo3/install.php to start the TYPO3 installation process.

  5. Configure TYPO3

    After completing the installation process, you need to configure TYPO3 by setting up a database connection and creating a first user. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

  6. Start using TYPO3

    After completing the configuration, TYPO3 is ready to use. Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost/typo3 to access the TYPO3 backend.
