How to Install Bepasty on macOS
Bepasty is a file-hosting application that allows you to share files securely and easily. In this tutorial, we'll go over how to install Bepasty on macOS.
Prerequisites
Before we begin, make sure you have the following:
- A macOS system
- Python 3.7 or later installed
- pip3 package manager installed
Step 1: Install Dependencies
- Open Terminal on your macOS system.
- Install required dependencies by typing the following command and pressing Enter:
sudo easy_install pip
Step 2: Install Virtual Environment
- Type the following command and press Enter:
sudo pip3 install virtualenv
Step 3: Create a Virtual Environment
- We will create a new virtual environment named "bepasty" in your home directory. To do this, type in this command and press Enter:
cd ~ && virtualenv bepasty
- Then, activate the environment by typing in the following command:
source ~/bepasty/bin/activate
Step 4: Install Bepasty
- Now that your virtual environment has been activated, it's time to install Bepasty. Type in the following command:
pip install bepasty-server
Step 5: Configure Bepasty
- To configure Bepasty, copy the configuration file to your home directory using the following command:
cp ~/bepasty/lib/python3.7/site-packages/bepasty_server/example-config.ini ~/.bepasty.ini
- Edit the configuration file using the following command:
nano ~/.bepasty.ini
- Modify the settings as needed. Be sure to update the
secret_key
value with a long, random string for added security.
Step 6: Start the Bepasty Server
- To start the Bepasty server, type in the following command:
bepasty-server run
- Open your web browser and navigate to
http://127.0.0.1:8080
. If everything was installed and configured correctly, you should see the Bepasty web interface.
